A discontinued 1960s high-performance engine block needed to be reproduced for a limited run of classic car restorations, but no original drawings existed.

Technical Hurdles
Internal cooling galleries were extremely complex to scan. Surface wear and corrosion meant we had to 'design back' to nominal factory specifications.

Our Engineering Approach
Used sub-millimeter laser scanning for external features and industrial CT scanning for internal galleries. Reconstructed a parametric CAD model in Geomagic Design X.
